An Established Track Record

When it comes to helping kids, Communities In Schools has a track record with a focus on results.

  • We provide access to services to nearly 2.3 million young people on an annual basis.
  • We celebrate student success: increased graduation and stay-in-school rates; increased attendance; better academic performance.
  • We are the largest dropout prevention network in America.
  • We form effective partnerships and create unique programs.

A Unique Community Model

Communities In Schools is a community-builder delivering resources for kids.

  • We partner with families, schools and community leaders to create a support system for students.
  • We utilize a committed field staff to customize, develop and facilitate effective local programs.
  • We successfully garner support from businesses, organizations and government, social service providers and volunteer groups.
  • We work in partnership with public schools--principals, superintendents, teachers and administrators.

A Unique Philosophy

Communities In Schools believes that every child needs and deserves these "Five Basics":

  • A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
  • A safe place to learn and grow
  • A healthy start and a healthy future
  • A marketable skill to use upon graduation
  • A chance to give back to peers and community

Communities In Schools' school-based programs are designed to provide students with at least one of these real basics, building communities of help, hope and care.

For more than 30 years, Communities In Schools has championed the connection of needed community resources with schools. By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children's unmet needs, Communities In Schools provides the link between educators and the community. The result: Teachers are free to teach, and students -- many in jeopardy of dropping out -- have the opportunity to focus on learning.
