Graduation Coaches
Increasing the Graduation Rate in Durham
The Graduation Coach (GC) program, a signature model of CIS, fills a pivotal role inside the school. They provide student support services with the goal of keeping students in school, helping them graduate on time, and preparing them for life. In order to do that, Graduation Coaches tailor services to the needs of the student body as well as those of the individual student. With the Graduation Coaches' support, teachers can focus on teaching, and students can focus on learning. Services provided include basic needs provision, academic mentors, internships, career/college readiness, cultural awareness programs, individual counseling and support groups.
Currently, the Graduation Coach program is located in Durham Performance Learning Center.
A recent high quality study ranked the CIS Graduation Coach model as the only fully-scaled intervention nationally shown to both reduce the annual dropout rate and increase the four-year graduation rate.

Success Coaches
I had a conference this week with my son’s teacher about his grades, and she reported to me that she had seen such a magnificent change in him within the last month. And I owe it all to the Strengthening Families Program.
