Our mission: Surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

 

We believe greatness exists in every child. At Communities in Schools of Durham, we amplify the power of each student's potential by connecting them to caring adults and community resources designed to help them succeed. By being in schools we support them in ways that go beyond the classroom. We work with families and communities to create access to the resources and opportunities that help them overcome life's current and future barriers. We champion the use of evidence-based programs, and our model is a holistic one. Graduation or Success Coaches, work with teachers and administrators to identify students with the most risk of dropping out. Through ongoing evaluations and integrated services, Coaches craft a plan with these students to help them achieve their utmost, setting them up for a bright future.

 

But our work doesn't stop there. We aim to touch every facet of a child's life by also providing parent workshops on childhood development, engaging students in summer reading, offering a safe and fun after-school environment, and so much more.
