Planned Giving & More

Why planned giving?

In addition to supporting education and students in Durham, planned giving is your legacy. Planned giving is insight into the things that are important to you; the things you stand by and the values you uphold. Other benefits of planned giving include:

  • Minimum or no capital gains taxes

  • Reduce income tax liability

  • Increase current income

Bequests & Estate Planning

You may make a bequest or gift through your estate by including a provision in your will or living trust, or by naming Communities In Schools of Durham as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust provides substantial financial and tax benefits for the donor, as well as significant gifts to Communities In Schools of Durham by allowing you to make contributions to the trust and be eligible for a partial tax deduction, based on the CRT’s assets that will pass to charitable beneficiaries.

Gifts of Stock

Gifts of stock and other securities (mutual funds, Treasury bills, bonds, etc.) are great ways to give to Communities In Schools of Durham.

If you are interested in planned giving and other ways to donate, please contact Kerry Raquel at kerry@cisdurham.org or (919) 403-1936 ext 25.
