#25DaysOfGiving: Give the Gift of Exploration
“In a world of shrinking budgets, it great to have authentic and innovative materials to enhance student learning,” says Brittany Gregory, a Student Support Specialist at Y. E. Smith Elementary School. “Interactive materials help capture student interest and spark the natural inquisitiveness about their world around them.”
These types of resources also integrate literacy and social studies in the classroom, Brittany says, and can prove a powerful platform to strengthen students’ critical thinking skills. CIS of Durham aims to make these resources available to all our students, but we can't do it without the help of our community supporters. A gift of $100 can send 15 students on a monthly global expedition with the Little Passports explorer kit. “Learning about different cultures will help students understand the way of life of their peers, community members and others around the world,” Brittany adds. “It can help reduce misconceptions and apprehension of trying new things.”
