Meet the Team: Brittany Gregory, Success Coach

Brittany Gregory joined CIS of Durham in October 2014 and now works as a Success Coach at Y.E. Smith Elementary.

What brought you to Communities In Schools of Durham?

As a classroom teacher, I wanted to use my skills and expertise to help students that are struggling in reading. The student support specialist position had the best of both worlds—community outreach and education!

What drew you to this line of work?

I have always loved working with children and giving students the necessary tools to succeed in the classroom and life.

What are some of your proudest or happiest achievements at Y.E. Smith Elementary?

Seeing students that were not proficient readers in the beginning school year reach proficiency at the end of the school year. Also seeing students make strides and reading gains is very rewarding.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I am new to the Durham area; I have spent a lot of time exploring the local restaurant scene, business and art venues. I enjoy working out, spending time with family, my friends and my dachshund Bandit.

What are your goals for the next school semester?

My goals for next school year are to deepen my impact with students and to continue to foster relationship with parents and community partners.
