Sydney Webb first started volunteering as an intern with Communities In Schools of Durham in August 2013. Webb eventually joined the full-time staff as the Success Coach at Neal Middle School, a STEM magnet school.
Sydney’s desire to see students in her hometown elevated and achieve their goals and aspirations drew her into the work at CIS of Durham.
Sydney received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in African American Studies and Information Technology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She is currently working on a Masters of Science in Information Technology at North Carolina Agricultural Technical University, while continuing her work as a success coach with CIS of Durham.
“When I see a student acknowledge their own power, potential and intelligence,” Sydney says as part of her greatest accomplishment and success as a success coach. She further explained her proudest achievement thus far as, “Starting a STEM group for female students at Neal Middle School”
When asked about her hero, Webb instantly replied with her mother as her biggest inspiration. “My mother, even though she only graduated from high school she always taught education was important and that there's nothing in this world that I cannot accomplish,” Sydney says.
